There hasn't been much going on here in B-town lately. Schools had spring break last week. So Tremaine was home all week. Which would have been great, except I had to work extra hours. The Library is planning bus trips down to the Cities to see the King Tut exhibit. Which is way cool. But I had to convince my boss that I should be a group leader. You'd think I would be a shoe-in for that position, having a B.A. in history. But no. After some nagging and asking if my husband could come too, I was finally added to the list. Yay!
I was able to finish a couple sewing projects this week that have been lying around for a while. Tremaine's "utilikilt" is finally done. And just in time for St. Patrick's Day. I've been working on this since sometime before Christmas. He had found a website where you can buy these, but since they are a little out of our price range, I told him I'd make one. Surprisingly, it wasn't that hard to make. It was finding the time to work on it that proved difficult. That and my cat liked to help. I also found an almost finished skirt in my fabric box. This had been lying around for years. I had gotten mad at the pattern (it didn't make any sense) and put it away to work on it later. Occasionally I would take it out and look at it, remember my frustration, and put it away again. Yesterday I decided to tackle it once and for all. And got it done!
It's amazing how good it feels to get something accomplished. Even little things. Maybe especially little things. They have ways of multiplying and growing into big things. Perhaps only figuratively. Our mind makes them into big things that seem overwhelming. Weighing us down. Finishing that little purple skirt took a weight off. It doesn't mean anything in the grand scheme of things, it's just an article of clothing. But putting the last stitch in and finally getting to try it on (and it fit, too!) made me breathe a little easier. And made me want to accomplish even more.
